Curtin University of Technology

Course Structure

Students approved for admission to the Master of Technology (Petroleum Technology) will be able to choose between two streams of Study:

Assessment of selected PetroSkills courses will provide appromately half the credit total required to complete the MTech in Petroleum Technology. The remaining credit total will be obtained through workplace-based projects monitored by Curtin University. Want to know more about workplace-based projects? click here. What to know the 2010 MTech Assessment Schedule? click here.

Over the expected four year duration of the course, students will need to complete 100 credits of Curtin taught project units (or approved alternatives) and 100 credits of Curtin assessed PetroSkills courses. It is therefore recommended that in each year of enrolment, students complete one workplace-based project and two 12.5 credit PetroSkills courses (or one 25 credit PetroSkills course assessment). Students wishing to complete their course in a shorter timeframe may do so by increasing the number of credits completed in any given year. Workplace-based projects have a duration of 12 weeks for completion. PetroSkill course assessments have a duration of 4 weeks for completion.
